The Napalm-Girl

Unsuitable digital communication differs depending on the place of display and the audience to who the message is sent. It is very important to take into consideration factors such as body language, audience, manner etc. When passing on a message. Pulitzer Prize winning photojournalist Nick Ut, is best known for his 1972 Vietnam War photograph known as "Napalm Girl,” the post was blemished with a lot of disputes because of the undressed girl. The image has been perceived by some critics as a violation of media practice.

According to my point of view. I believe that the image was inappropriate at first, but due to the fact that people were being massacred during the Vietnam War, citizens being exploited by soldiers who raped and interrupted the way of life of citizens; shifted my perspective on the bigger picture behind the image of the "Napalm Girl,”.

The activities of militaries in war have rarely been as humanitarian as the present American military. In the 20th Century alone there have been a vast of documented cases of horrifying acts by the Japanese, the Germans and the Soviet Red Army in World War II, or by North Korea in the 1950s, and others later than that. Before the 20th Century, ugly butchery was common in war according to the Vietnam War Atrocities (Olive, 2014).

I believe that the media had an influence on the end of the Vietnam War through various forms of communications; through images, videos and music. Examples of songs that contributed are Green Green Grass of Home by Porter Wagoner, Chain of Fools by Aretha Franklin, The Letter by The Box Tops, and (Sittin’ on) The Dock of the Bay by Otis Redding. The songs and the image of the Napalm Girl depict raw images of pain the Vietnam War posed which helped the war stop when it did.
